The natural wealth of the Sierra de Segura and the adjoining Sierras de Cazorla and Las Villas, deserved the declaration of Natural Park, being the largest Protected Natural Area in Spain. A territory declared a Biosphere Reserve by Unesco and a special protection area for birds, thus forming part of the whole region of the Natura 2000 Network.
